Najenga Community Centre

In Swahili, “Najenga” means “we are building”- it describes God’s heart. Where there has been destruction, God’s heart is love in action. Najenga is an attitude. It’s about building hope and thriving futures for both the present and future in Central Africa.

In January 2023 the Najenga Community Centre building, which was a wood structure and thatch roof collapsed due to torrential rain and hurricane force winds. The new building is all cement with reinforced columns and a steel roof that will be able to withstand the storms. The new building is expected to be completed July 2024.

Our new Community Centre on our land is now complete, September 2024! We have had a number of gatherings already, and with the rains coming soon, it is very timely. We have rebuilt with cement columns and steel girders and metal roof. This building will provide a secure and safe environment for community events, pre-school, hygiene and health workshops ,humanitarian supplies distribution and church services. .

The main building is being reconstructed after it collapsed in 2023.

In February 2024 the water well was replaced and fresh water is once again flowing! The cost to replace the well was $20,000 USD.
